Rants & Raves
Just like "Who's on first"...
The name is No Name.

by Eric Schmoyer

Boston is a town known for seafood. There is a host of restaurants famous, infamous and unknown that, when combined, supply a cornucopia of offerings from the sea. There is an often forgotten place down by the piers that has the price versus quantity war won, fins down. This place has no name; well, it does, but it is No Name.

No Name Seafood has a rather noisy, boisterous atmosphere to it. There are two floors which both overlook Boston Harbor. The dining area is rustic; heavy wooden tables and chairs, paper cups, and a water pitcher on every table. No ties or sportcoats needed.

Every meal there should start off with their award-winning fish chowder. It is not as thick as New England clam chowder, but it does have a variety of seafood and a solid flavor. Not many veggies in this bowl - just cream, butter, and seafood. They have a collection of plaques and other such decorations that they have won for this scrumptious concoction.

The actual dinner selection is pretty straight forward: clams, shrimp, scallops, or fish, fried or broiled. Everything comes heaped on a plate with french fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. The real feast here is the lobster. For about $15, you get a 1.25 lb. boiled lobster, a plate of scallops and shrimp, french fries, coleslaw, and a cob of corn. This is enough food to fill even the heartiest appetite, and also a favorite among people who just can't make up their mind. Most other entrees range from between $10 to $12. No matter what you order, there will be good food and plenty of it. The No Name is just a block down from the Boston World Trade Center, but you might want to lose the suit, tie, or heels first. Oh, a final warning - this is a cash only place. They don't do plastic.
